We are the owners of a beautiful house available for rent in Domfront, Orne France. The House is situated in the medieval part of Domfront within picturesque cobble street passageways and stunning hill top views of the surrounding land and town below. It truly is a spectacular time capsule filled with quirky charm and character.
One notable feature of the house is its characteristic Domfrontais staircase, found in many local houses. It has spiral steps within an oak stairwell in which there are windows, almost like a lighthouse. The ground floor provides a large living room and large kitchen, together with a cloakroom and stairs down to a cellar. There is an open fireplace (if you should choose to rent during the winter holidays), and a glazed door leads to a lovely small enclosed courtyard (if you should choose to rent in the summer). The first floor has two bedrooms, one of which is very large and has a beautiful marble fireplace. Waking up in this room, to the delicious smell of freshly baked bread from the nearby boulangerie, is a delight. The bathroom on this floor has a beautiful claw foot bathtub (free standing rolltop bath) and original painted paneling. The second floor has three bedrooms with a fantastic view down the street and of the church across the road. This floor also has a newly fitted shower room. The third and final floor is a large bedroom with views of the church and valley below the village. Domfront and its surrounding areas provide a wide range of activities and splendors to see including Chateau de Domfront, an 11th century castle, situated at the highest point in the town (strategically). It is an amazing piece of history with lovely gardens that provide a beautiful outside space for recreation, and is the backdrop for the Domfront medieval festival that is held every other summer.
